During a typical day at most trucking companies, drivers will need to swap loads with other drivers. Maybe the driver is out of hours of service and can’t make the delivery on time. Maybe the driver needs to go home, which is in the opposite direction of the delivery. Maybe the driver has an appointment and needs to be redirected. The list of reasons could go on and on. The Add On Systems Load Swapping tool is here to make the inevitable process of load swapping simpler.
AOS Load Swapping utilizes the ‘Swap’ command (within Planning Services) to allow users to view potential drivers available to swap loads – with information on the drivers the closest distance from the unit in need of swapping, the city, or the customer. With access to these insights, operators can analyze the cost of added miles as well as the projected delivery dates and times versus the appointment date and times to ensure an on-time delivery. The user can review their selections one last time before finalizing their choices. Once the best option has been identified and selected, the user only needs to hit the “Swap” button (F5) which will T-Call both loads, re-dispatch both loads and do the L-Call along with sending load information to each driver involved in the swap.
